Good Visuals and Quick Loading - What Gamers Want According to GameTrack

The results of the GameTrack survey conducted by ISFE and Ipsos MORI indicate that gamers are most interested in nice graphics and quick loading of games. Much less excitement is aroused by features such as streaming, portable modes and VR.

Players appreciate graphics and quick loading.

The ISFE association and the analytical company Ipsos MORI conducted (via Gamesindustry.biz) a GameTrack study on the habits of gamers from UK, Germany, France, Spain and Italy (conducted on a representative sample of 8000 people). One of the issues was expectations of next-gen consoles. The respondents pay the greatest attention to graphics - 68% of gamers indicated it (with the statistics higher by another 10% if only console owners are considered).

Of comparable importance is the quick loading of digital games, which was indicated by 63% of those asked (71% when only consoles were taken into account). Interestingly, despite the great interest in modern graphics, only 40% of those asked considered 8K resolution to be important (among console owners, the number increases to 49%). This may not be a shockingly low result, but greater emotions were stirred up by such things as motion controllers (49% / 57%), backwards compatibility (48% / 59%) or the ability to run games on physical media (indicated by 47% of respondents, 58% among console users).

Interest in streaming games was expressed by 44% of those asked (51% of console owners). The answers to the question about offline applications were quite similar (41% / 52%). Even less popular are virtual reality (37% / 43%) and portable modes such as handheld mode, the flagship feature of Nintendo Switch (38% / 45%). This last detail is interesting because it contrasts with the great sales of the company's consoles (although it has to be admitted that most of the statistics on this subject come from the United States and not Europe).

Interesting information also comes from the analysis of results in individual countries. For example, Germany seems to attach significantly less importance to many specific functions (for example, portable modes are only of interest to 24% of German gamers). Another point that departs from the European standard is the British interest in streaming (58%) and non-game related applications (52%).
