Mass Layoffs at the Polish Publisher of Cyberpunk 2077 [Updated]

According to reliable sources, CDP, which was supposed to be the Polish distributor of Cyberpunk 2077, has just laid off a lot of staff. The company will probably soon be completely extinguished. At present, it is not known which company could take over the rights to distribute the title in Poland.

Update

CD Projekt RED ensured on its Polish Facebook account that "all pre-orders of Cyberpunk 2077 placed directly with CDP Sp. z o.o. (Ltd.) will be delivered. More information soon."

Original message

Almost a year after Techland (which operated as Techland Publishing) stepped down as the main distributor of boxed versions of video games in Poland, it is likely that another company will meet the same fate. A few hours ago, we were informed that there were mass layoffs at CDP. Although after confirming them with several sources that wish to remain anonymous, we found out that so far only a part of the entire crew has been fired. That said, it will probably not end there and the company will be completely extinguished. However, it is currently unclear how long the process would take.

What next with Cyberpunk 2077 in Poland?

At this point it is worth noting that CDP was supposed to be the Polish distributor of one of the most anticipated games of recent years, i.e. Cyberpunk 2077. Therefore, it is currently unknown who will distribute the title in its homeland. There are two possibilities - Cenega (whose portfolio, after the closure of Techland Publishing, includes Dying Light 2) and the Polish branch of Koch Media.

CDP has not currently taken the floor on the issue, and despite the circumstances, pre-orders for the game can still be placed. The editors of the PolskiGamedev.pl website reached the representatives of the company, from whom they received the following comment on the matter:

"The company is assessing its strategic options. It will be making a public statement in the near future. Meanwhile, it doesn't comment on the reports."

Just to be clear, let's note that CDP has nothing to do with neither the CD Projekt group nor the CD Projekt RED studio, as it has been operating as an independent company since 2014, continuing the activities of the CD Projekt publishing company.
