GTA 6 May Get 'Cut Down' for Faster Release

We have more reports about GTA VI. An insider known for his numerous reports on Rockstar's series presented good news and bad news - the title is expected to debut within the next two years, but it will come at a high cost.

Leaks about Grand Theft Auto VI continue. Known in the circle of GTA fans, user Tez2 presented a possible approximate release date for the game. The date may signify Rockstar's application of a controversial policy. We are talking about cutting the base game's content in favor of paid DLCs.

GTA VI - story DLCs or online development?

Tez2's statement can be found on Reddit. The insider casts doubt on the release of GTA VI in 2025 or 2026, as he believes it would be more profitable for Rockstar's management to speed up the work by cutting some of the game's content in favor of future DLCs. After all is said and done, Tez2 believes that we will hear the first official information about the game later this year, and it will go on sale in the summer of next year or possibly early 2025.

If Tez2's conjecture turns out to be true, it will mark a return of Rockstar Games to the policy from years ago. Recall that GTA IV received two great expansions: The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony. In turn GTA V did not get solo mode expansions, which was met with much criticism from fans. Possible cutting of content to develop story expansions for the sixth installment would allow the studio to extend the life of the single-player mode, satisfy "hungry" fans and earn money from the sale of DLCs. However, it is not impossible that it would also spark a wave of hate.

Potentially cutting out content to sell it later as DLCs in the future could also mean - following the example of GTA V - the desire for actual, post-release development of multiplayer mode only. Recall that GTA Online received a ton of content, including Heists and the Drug Wars DLC. After a huge financial success that was and still is the multiplayer module for GTA V, one can be virtually certain of the appearance of this mode in a future installment of the series.

Doubtful new information

Tez2 has been proving itself as an informant for years. In 2021, he published a hidden article on Rockstar Games' website. In January of this year, the same user warned players of a a dangerous exploit, which can lead to the loss of account in GTA Online. The player regularly provides a lot of valuable information on his Twitter, especially in the context of the network mode of GTA 5.

It is difficult to verify at this point how true the above reports are, especially since the informant did not cite any source. Such a highly anticipated release as GTA VI can excite the imagination, the more so since in September of last year, unofficial videos from an early version of the game have surfaced - these, by the way, we subjected to an analysis. Recently there have been speculations that Rockstar has bought the technology for realistic recreation of water physics. However, such reports should be taken with a grain of salt.
