Not only actors playing Harry Potter characters are needed to build a good adaptation, but also elements of the magical world, especially the most distinctive ones, which will create the atmosphere of the production. We don't yet know what Hogwarts and the sets will look like – the photos we've been able to see so far have shown locations still under construction – but we have learned who will “play” a key “character.”

The Hogwarts Express is already a distinctive element of the series – even though it doesn't appear for long in the films, fans will probably be able to describe what the vehicle looks like without any problems. This may be due to the notorious use of its image, or simply because it may have a small role, but a significant one, being a kind of link between Muggle London and magical Hogwarts, and above all, this is the place where Harry's adventure at Hogwarts begins. It was on the train that he met his friends and where several significant events took place.

As the movie train has become HP's trademark, the creators of the HBO Max series had quite a challenge to find a successor. And as it turns out, they set their sights on a model confusingly similar to the one used in the films. Buckinghamshire Railway Centre has announced that the role of the iconic Hogwarts Express locomotive will be played by their Wightwick Hall BR (WR) 4-6-0 5MT 6989 steam locomotive, which was destined for scrap years ago, but will become one of the world's most recognizable locomotives after a 40-plus year restoration process.

The movies use the GWR 4900 Class 5972 Olton Hall locomotive, which from the outside looks almost like the Wightwick Hall from the TV show, and most of the improvements to the Wightwick Hall locomotive come from the interior. The book's Hogwarts Express locomotive was red, while Wightwick Hall's is green – it's unclear whether the series creators will decide to repaint it, use computer effects to change the color, or whether the train will remain green in this version.

The reveal of the train that will take students to the series' Hogwarts is an interesting tidbit for HP's biggest fans.
