We finally got to see the release of Horizon Forbidden West, the next superproduction from Guerrilla Games and Sony, the follow-up to the hit Horizon: Zero Dawn from 2017. The game was released exclusively on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
Graphics comparison between PS4, PS4 Pro and PS5 versions
The Digital Foundry team has prepared an interesting video, offering a graphical comparison Horizon Forbidden West on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, and PlayStation 5 consoles.
Prior to release, most of the gameplay footage shared was from the PS5 release, but thankfully owners of older generation hardware need not fear that their version will prove to be a disappointment.
Horizon Forbidden West looks noticeably better on Sony's newest console, offering smoother gameplay and much more detail. Even on PS4, however, the game looks impressiverunning at 1080p and 30 frames per second. This was made possible by the game's dynamic-resolution system, which lowers the resolution at times when the hardware is out of whack.
Horizon Forbidden West pricing
W Horizon Forbidden West can only be played by owners of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Unfortunately, Sony still has not introduced a system analogous to Play Anywhere from Microsoft, in which a single purchase of the game allows you to get access to it on all supported hardware platforms.
In digital distribution the standard, PS4-only version of Horizon Forbidden West costs $59.99. In turn, the PS5 edition (which also offers access to the PlayStation 4 version) was priced at $69.99.
