AC: Valhalla Outperformed Odyssey, Ubisoft Reports

According to Ubisoft's latest financial report, Assassin's Creed Valhalla earned over 70% more than AC Odyssey in the same time period after release. The company's CEO also commented on recent rumors of a spin-off stealth game.

Ubisoft released a new financial report, covering the results for the first nine months of fiscal year 2021-22, the period from April 1 to December 31, 2021. It contains a lot of interesting information about the results of the latest two installments of the Assassin's Creed series, namely Odyssey and Valhalla.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla Continues to Impress

Ubisoft is very pleased with how Assassin's Creed: Valhalla is doing on the market:

  1. In the last quarter of last year Assassin's Creed: Valhalla enjoyed 30% more interest than Assassin's Creed: Odyssey during the same period;
  2. Revenues from Assassin's Creed: Valhalla are more than 70% higher than from AC Odyssey in the corresponding period after release.

Given these results, the decision to extend support for Assassin's Creed: Valhalla must have been obvious. On March 10, the game will receive a third expansion in the form of Dawn of Ragnarok.

The DLC is announced as the biggest expansion in the company's history. It is being worked on by Ubisoft Sofia, the team responsible for Assassin's Creed: Rogue.

Assassin's Creed: Odyssey Benefited From Crossover With Valhalla

The fact that AC Valhalla is doing much better than Assassin's Creed: Odyssey doesn't mean the company isn't happy with the performance of the latter. Late last year, as an update, both games received one new adventure each as part of an event called Crossover Stories, connecting these installments of the series story-wise.

Thanks to this event, December was a great month for Assassin's Creed: Odyssey. In fact, it was the best month of 2021 in terms of player interest.

Future of Assassin's Creed and Spin-off Stealth Game Rift

All these successes are a sign for Ubisoft that the brand is doing better than ever. During a presentation for journalists, company CEO Yves Guillemot was asked about recent rumors about a stealth-oriented spin-off game. He declined to comment on the matter, but it is interesting to note that in response he used the name Rift (which is speculated to be the project's title) in response, although the journalist did not mention such title in the question, which seems to make earlier reports about the game more credible.

Although Guillemot did not reveal any details about the next installments of the brand, he assured that the company has already planned the future of the series for many years ahead and every year fans of the series are to receive a lot of new attractions.
