Grounded 2 introduced a long awaited feature and allows us to get mounts. They are called Buggies. While getting the first, Soldier Ant, is a part of the story and one of the first steps in the game, the next available creature – Orb Weaver – is not so easy to tame. If you are here to have your own spider or learn how to hatch the eggs, feel free to read our guide.

How to get Orb Weaver Egg in Grounded 2

In the case of the Soldier Ant, getting its eggs was the true challenge for a beginner, especially due to a lurking spider. However, finding Orb Weaver Egg is much easier. You may even be here because you have already found it, as it can be encountered randomly during your adventures.

To find Orb Weaver Egg, you must go under the body of our robot friend (Headless Burg.L marker), which is in the middle of the map. Watch out though, as it is a dangerous area. Moreover, you will descend into the lair of spiders. However, we will help you.

Enter the lair in the place you see on the screen, below the robot’s arm. Make sure that you are on your ant buggy, as the task is much easier with it. Sprint straight ahead into the tunnel. After just a few steps you should see Orb Weaver Eggs on the ground. Let the buggy take one and you can retreat. However, you can’t do anything with them unless

If you have found the Orb Weaver Egg and you are wondering what to do with it, you will have to wait some time. The spider Buggy is a current endgame reward. You will get the ability to hatch it after you complete all available main quests. So, just follow the story. After the last fight of Act 1, you will get the Optical Disc, which you have to take to a Ranger Station. Analyzing it will unlock the Orb Weaver Buggy (you will be able to hatch it and mount it) and Spider Nest (it allows to keep more than one spider).

After you acquire the technology and the egg, you need to take it to the Hatchery (you have built it for the ant Buggy quest).

To craft a saddle (and hatch an Orb Weaver egg), you need:

  1. 3 Blueberry Leather,
  2. 4 Red Ant Mandibles (kill Red Soldier Ants),
  3. 3 Acorn Shell,
  4. Orb Weaver egg.

Additionally, you can build a Spider Nest:

  1. 6 Weed Stem,
  2. 6 Pine Needle (top left corner of the map)
  3. 6 Web Fiber (fighting spiders and destroying webs)
  4. 4 Silk Rope (It can be crafted on a Spinning Wheel with Web Fiber)

Is Orb Weaver Buggy worth it?

Orb Weaver Buggy is definitely better at combat than its Ant counterpart. However, it can’t cut through stems or carry materials. On the other hand, the spider is not slowed down by webs. Now you will be able to cross those web bridges without being stopped.

It means that both Buggies are useful. If you want to explore, pick the spider, for building, the ant is better. Good luck.
