Not far into the game, you will be task with retrieving Soldier Ant Egg to hatch your own buggy, a very useful and adorable mount. However, don’t make my mistake and collect Red Ant Egg.

Fans of Grounded may be pleasantly surprised by the fact that the sequel adds one awaited feature – mounts. They are called buggies in the game. The first of them is Soldier Ant (later on you will be able to get a spider, too). You will be tasked to get the egg quite soon if you follow the plot. However, the task is more complicated than you think, especially if you take Red Ant Egg by mistake.

How to get Soldier Ant Egg and what to do with Red Ant Egg

  1. The first step is to follow the mission marker and enter the anthill. Watch out though, as entrance, as the whole colony, is guarded by ant soldiers. It is a good idea to save the game or build a camp outside of the nest. Thanks to that you will not have to travel long. Moreover, you will descend underground. So, take some torches (though there will be some lights there).
  2. Follow the cables, more precisely the thick black one on the ground. Of course, the evil corporation was here before you. So, they left their equipment. You will find some bandages on the way and Red Ant Eggs. They are not what you are looking for. To be honest I still don’t know what they are for. Maybe a cooking recipe I have not unlocked? However, you can ignore them right now.

  1. Once you reach the light which is turned towards some roots, you have two options. Follow the black cable further to the goal of your mission or do a little detour. If you follow the corridor with the cable only on the ceiling, you will reach a room with a bed (you can rest and set respawn point there), water and bandages.

  1. Regardless of your previous decision, to complete the quest and get Buggy, follow the black cable to the end and when you reach it, turn left. Now follow the cables and lights that are on the ceiling. Watch out, though. I have met a giant spider at this point (big as the whole tunnel). I was definitely not ready for such an opponent, so I ran away. When I went back, the creature was nowhere to be found (I was not looking to meet it either).
  2. Enter the room at the end of the cable.

  1. You will see the egg you are looking for behind the glass, however, you can’t reach it. You must go further. Pick the door in front of you.
  2. After killing some more Soldier Ants, you will be able to reach a few Soldier Ants Eggs. Pick one (you have to carry them in your hands, not inventory) and go back to your base to hatch it.
