A sequel to the popular survival game from 2022, once again developed by Obsidian Entertainment. Grounded 2 allows us to play as tiny characters in a large real world. One of the biggest improvements is a much larger open world, including an entire park. We can also use insects as mounts and helpers.
Grounded 2 is a sequel to the survival game titled Grounded, the full version of which debuted back in 2022. The second game was developed by the creators of the original, namely Obsidian Entertainment studio, which has the Pillars of Eternity and The Outer Worlds series in its portfolio.
In Grounded 2 we watch the action from the first person (FPP) or third person perspective (TPP). Similar to the first part of the series, during the game we take on the roles of heroes who have been shrunk to sizes that make an ordinary lawn become an impassable jungle for them, while insects and other creatures inhabiting it turn into a real threat.
All matters related to survival rest on our shoulders. We are engaged in exploration, gathering resources, and also crafting items, the range of which expands as we progress. We can use the equipment in combat or when performing various tasks. The game also allows us to build a base that serves as our safe haven.
And there is something to protect ourselves from, as the game world is inhabited by dangerous creatures, led by spiders. The deeper we venture, the greater the threats we have to face. We eliminate enemies by using self-constructed weapons, including melee and ranged ones (like bows).
The sequel is based on the pillars established by its predecessor, and it was realized on the principle of "more and better". The biggest innovation introduced by the creators is the ability to hop on insects and use them as mounts. "Buggy", as our companions are affectionately called, are not only means of transport, but also real support on the battlefield. Moreover, they can assist us in acquiring useful resources.
In addition to this, the open world of the game was significantly expanded compared to the original. This time, we are not limited to the backyard, but we have the whole park at our disposal.
We can play Grounded 2 alone or in cooperative mode over the Internet.

The core strengths of the original are here and intact, from the gorgeous world and solid survival mechanics, to another intriguing story to unpack, but I can’t help but feel there should have been more from the start that feels truly new. Still, it is a lot of fun, and as we begin another early access journey, this peblet and clay foundation is pretty solid – I can’t wait to see what else is in store.
