It is unbelievable how No Man’s Sky started out as a game hated by players to gradually bring them back and make them enjoy the production. It’s already been 7 years since the release of this title, and the developers are consistently pushing new, free content updates for the game. The recent one, called Echoes, introduces new robotic race – Autophage, among numerous other changes. Interaction with that new race will give you access to a new Multi-Tool – Staff. If you want to learn how to get it, we’re here to help.

How to get Staff in NMS

The staff is a new class of two-handed Multi-Tool in No Man’s Sky. First of all, you have to start new Echoes content. It requires some preparations and completion of certain story missions from previous expansions. If you would like to know more, we already have an article that can help you with just that.

After you have started “They who returned”, you can now work through obtaining the staff. Needed tools will be unlocked during the main quest, so don't worry. You can start in any system. Use Polyphonic Core, charge it and then use it to locate Autophage camp. When in the location, use your scanner near burning pod-like device to uncover the robotic race dwellers. In the camp, you will be able to use Autophage Synthesis Terminal, which will allow you to create the staff, but first you will have to exchange your Void Motes for Staff parts. Different camps will offer various staff components. What is more, if you are lucky, you can have higher quality tool. However, at the moment it is unknown if the S class Staff is connected to camps or luck of the explorer (or both).
