The first teaser of Gex Trilogy promises the return of another forgotten platform hero, whom we haven't seen in over 24 years.

Another classic platforming hero dating back to the first PlayStation returns - hopefully - in glory. After the resurrection of Crash Bandicoot and Spyro by Activision, Limited Run Games has announced a refresh of the GEX trilogy.

Unfortunately, for now, the American publisher has not shared too many details. All we know is that the company plans to recreate the entire trilogy - GEX, GEX 3D: Enter the Gecko and Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko - using the proprietary Carbon Engine technology. The engine was developed to refresh old games, but it also proved itself in the walking brawler River City Girls Zero. By the way, we recently learned that the famous Croc will also live to see remasters.

GEX Trilogy is headed for PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. We will learn more about the bundle in unspecified future. Who knows, maybe after - we hope - a successful return from retirement Agent GEX will follow in the footsteps of Shantae and Crash and finally get a brand new game as well?

GEX has never played in the premier league of platformers with, together Crash, Mario and company. It also never made it to the sixth generation consoles (i.e., the PlayStation 2 and its rivals; the last, third game in the series was released in 1999.). The only trace left of GEX 4 are concept art (via Reddit), and a prototype of the canceled spin-off, leaked online last year (via Hidden Palace).

Nevertheless, the series sold a total of 15 million copies and still has its fans today, especially the second game. Mainly thanks to a large dose of humor and numerous references to American pop culture and cinema, but also well-designed levels and the person of TV addict Gex (in the American edition of Enter the Gecko voiced by comedian Dan Gould).
