The previous game from Toadman Interactive, Immortal: Unchained, wasn't much of a hit. This is evidenced by the average rating on Metacritic, which varies from 49% to 63% depending on the platform. Fans of the I.G.I. series need to have keep their fingers crossed in order for the next work of the developer to be significantly better.
Toadman Interactive informed that it is working on the third installment of the I.G.I. a tactical shooter series focusing on stealth operations. The action of the game now known as I.G.I. Origins will be set before the events presented in the original Project I.G.I. from 2000 and its continuation, I.G.I. 2: Covert Strike. Due to the fact that the project is in the prototype phase, its launch is planned for the distant year 2021 (we do not know what platforms it is coming to, although PC seems to be a certainty). Below you will find the first teaser, in which the devs will familiarize us with the plot and present two short scenes from the actual game.
As you can see, the action will once again be observed from the first-person perspective. The announcement, which can be found on the official website of the studio, shows that the creators intend to retain the spirit of the original in their new game. We can, therefore, expect that the missions that will be carried out on open maps, enabling us to complete the objective in various ways, and that in the course of the game it will be much more sensible to act in secret and plan every step carefully than to charge opposition all guns blazing.
It's worth noting that Toadman Interactive employs one of the developers who worked on the original I.G.I. Besides, the devs are open to fans' suggestions - their ideas (not only concorning mechanics, but also the locations visited by the main character) can be shared both on the developer's website , as well as on Discord or Facebook.
If you have closely followed the information related to the development of the I.G.I. series, you have certainly come across reports that the rights to the brand were aquired by Artplant in January 2017. A few months later the team has announced, that the works on I.G.I. We're Going In have started, and the game itself appeared to be focused on the cooperation mode. In the meantime, however, the studio has been taken over by Toadman Interactive - it seems that its new owners have decided to start working on the third I.G.I.I.
