Is Sons of the Forest stuttering? - Fix It!

Sons of the Forest is stuttering for many players. In this guide we will answer why this is the case and give you some fixes.

Sons of the Forest is the sequel to The Forest. If you played the predecessor, you probably know it is a survival game. Be prepared to a little bit of fight, exploration and be eaten. However, many people can’t play comfortable because the game is stuttering. In this article we will talk about it.

Why Sons of the forest is stuttering

In the case of Sons of the Forest, the biggest problem with stuttering is not because of GPU but CPU. What does it mean? Graphics settings do not matter as much in this case as processor power and its load. Of course they also influence performance, but many players agree that in the case of Sons of the Forest the difference in graphics settings do not present a drastic change in FPS.

Sons of the forest – stuttering fix

  1. Close all unnecessary applications – they take precious power from your PC.
  2. Update your drivers – it is always a good idea.
  3. Install the game on SSD – if you can, it is something obligatory.
  4. Limit V-sync – you need to reduce your CPU load.
  5. Don’t be a host – if you want to play a multiplayer game, ask someone else to host it.
  6. Wait a while – game stutters more at the beginning because it needs to load shaders.
  7. Play in window borderless view – many players can see a great difference in FPS by switching to this mode.

Remember that the game is in Early Access. It means that players should be prepared for some problems, but at the same time developers will (at least try) to fix them. It is very possible that one of the upcoming patches will help in this case.

If you want to read more about the game, we have something for you – Sons of the Forest Guide. You can find there even an interactive map! If it is not there, it will be soon.
