Ixion - Steam Deck Compatibility Explained

In this article we will tell you about how Ixion works on Steam Deck. Find out all about compatibility.

Ixion is a new city builder game that clearly takes its inspiration from the game Startopia. This production allows the player to build their own space station and make sure it doesn't fall apart (literally). In this article, we'll talk about whether Ixion is playable on Steam Deck.

Ixion – Steam Deck Compatibility (Official)

If you were hoping for official Ixion support on Steam Deck, then unfortunately we have to worry you - for the time being there is none. In their FAQ responses, the developers stated that Ixion's compatibility with Steam Deck is something they will possibly address after the game's release.

This means in practice that official support is possible in the future, but you cannot count on it near the launch.

Ixion – Steam Deck Compatibility (Unofficial)

However, the above does not mean that there are no people who have tried playing Ixion on Steam Deck. Many players have already tried it when the demo version was released. There were also those who tried the game after the release. From their accounts, we can learn that Ixion can be played on Steam Deck, but you cannot count on a comfortable play experience.

  1. Cutscene – it’s the first big problem. Some of them do not work or have their colours changed.
  2. FPS – the game runs at around 30-40 FPS on low to medium settings, but there are some pretty serious frame drops (even to the single digits).
  3. UI – unfortunately the UI is quite tiny and unsuited to the Steam Deck display.
  4. Controls – they are not ideal and if you choose to play the game, you will need to set your own.

In conclusion, if you wish to purchase the game with the sole intention of playing it on Steam Deck, we would rather advise you to hold off and wait for official support.
