Kirby’s Dream Buffet Announced for the Switch

A new trailer announced Kirby’s Dream Buffet, a colorful and chaotic multiplayer game coming to the Nintendo Switch this summer.

The new game Kirby’s Dream Buffet was announced in a new trailer on the Nintendo YouTube channel. The four-player entry into the Kirby franchise seems to put more of an emphasis on multiplayer rather than a progressive story like Kirby and the Forgotten Land which also launched earlier this year.

Comparisons have already been made to the immensely popular game of summer 2020, Fall Guys, which also just launched for free on the Nintendo Switch last month. Between the brightly colored obstacle courses and multiplayer focus, it’s no surprise that connections have been made.

However, there are some glaring differences. For one, it seems to be limited to four players, rather than the massive groups that are slowly dwindled down in Fall Guys. Kirby’s Dream Buffet seems to be more about eating as much food as possible while racing to the finish, rather than being the last one standing. This is suggested by a moment from the trailer that shows the heaviest Kirby being awarded a gold medal.

The trailer also revealed that Kirby fans will not have to wait long for this game, with the release date announced as “Summer 2022.” Since it’s already July that doesn’t leave much time to wait. The end of the trailer also hinted that this will be a digital exclusive, with the trailer telling fans to “Download on [the] Nintendo eShop.
