Another weekend’s here, which means new Buzzwords in Cookie Jam. This time, it’s all about celebrating the 4th of July. We kicked things off with “Placed on buildings & can be waved” and “Big birds that stand for America.” Now, let’s tackle “What the U.S. declared in 1776” – and don’t worry, I’m here to help you out.

Answer to “What the U.S. declared in 1776” in Cookie Jam

There’s really only one answer that fits this Cookie Jam Buzzword, especially since it’s practically right in the name – Independence Day:

  1. What the U.S. declared in 1776 – Freedom

In 1776, the United States officially declared its freedom from Great Britain. This historic announcement came through the Declaration of Independence, adopted on July 4th, marking the birth of the nation as a sovereign country.

Although the Declaration was officially accepted on July 4, 1776, most delegates didn’t actually sign the document until August 2, 1776. A total of 56 delegates from the thirteen colonies signed the Declaration, risking their lives by doing so, since it was considered an act of treason against Britain.

After its adoption, a copy of the Declaration was sent to King George III to officially inform him of the colonies’ break from British rule. John Hancock, the President of the Continental Congress, famously signed his name in large, bold letters so King George III could read it without his glasses.

Been with gamepressure.com since 2019, mostly writing game guides but you can also find me geeking out about LEGO (huge collection, btw). Love RPGs and classic RTSs, also adore quirky indie games. Even with a ton of games, sometimes I just gotta fire up Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, KOTOR, or Baldur's Gate 2 (Shadows of Amn, the OG, not that Throne of Bhaal stuff). When I'm not gaming, I'm probably painting miniatures or admiring my collection of retro consoles.
