Mass Effect 5 on New Teaser

Today we celebrate N7 Day. In honor of this, BioWare has released a new teaser of Mass Effect 5 that suggests setting the events of the game after those of the original trilogy.

BioWare celebrates the N7 Day, an annual holiday started by fans of Mass Effect. In connection with this, a short teaser of the upcoming installment of the series has been published. According to the developers, the footage is supposed to be filled with clues waiting to be discovered.

The whole thing shows an almost static image, in which we see a mass relay being rebuilt (interestingly, it was shown for the first time already two years ago). The original structures were created in ancient times and enabled ships to travel instantly between specific points in the galaxy. Their fate, however, was sealed at the end of Mass Effect 3 (we won't reveal more to avoid spoilers).

The fact that we are now seeing new mass relays blatantly indicates that the Mass Effect 5 will take place in the Milky Way after the events of the original trilogy. This is also confirmed by a post on the series' official website.

"The team, comprised of Mass Effect franchise veterans as well as some amazing new additions to BioWare, has grown steadily! They’ve been hard at work crafting new characters and locations that you’ll love, as well as revisiting many that you’ll remember."

The sound layer of the teaser is interesting. This is because the whole thing is distorted, as if the file was corrupted. So it's possible that this is where the secret, which the developers encourage us to discover, is hidden. We will probably find out soon, when someone manages to decipher the mystery.
