Mass Effect: Andromeda gets a new trailer and details

The N7 Day is upon us, so it's time to watch the new Mass Effect: Andromeda trailer and bite into fresh game details.

The much anticipated Mass Effect: Andromeda trailer has been revealed today to celebrate this year’s N7 Day. The video introduces the epic new story, which is going to take the player into the Andromeda galaxy and let them become a Pathfinder, a leader of well-trained soldiers tasked to explore new worlds. They are humanity’s best hope to find a new home and survive in this unfamiliar environment 2.5 million light-years away from Earth. The trailer also shows off some tasty pieces of gameplay, featuring new kinds of enemies, including colossus alien creatures, as well as someone who appears to be the game’s antagonist.

BioWare also took the opportunity to reveal some interesting new details on Mass Effect: Andromeda’s features. Thanks to using Frostbite engine (best known from the Battlefield series) the game will boast destructible environments. Moreover, players will be able to use jetpacks for moving around, which is to be reflected in the level design – locations are said to be more vertical. As for combat, next to getting a whole new arsenal of weapons and abilities, the game will introduce an expansive skill tree so that character progression could be more dependant on player’s choices.

Mass Effect: Andromeda has been confirmed to come out in spring 2017, however, a delay – even by as many as five months – is not out of question. When it’s out, the fourth installment in the Mass Effect space saga will be available on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. You can already pre-order the game for all platforms, available in three editions.

If you are a big fan, looking out for any Mass Effect-related news, you should get acquainted with Andromeda Initiative, an information campaign that gives a glimpse on the backstory of the franchise and the events leading up to Mass Effect: Andromeda among other things.
