Mass Effect: Legendary Edition Now Even Prettier Thanks to ALOT Mod

The Mass Effect: Legendary Edition has received the ALOT mod, which, like in the originals, introduces new and better textures. The classic version of the mod has also been updated, which now includes some of the improvements from the remasters.

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, a set of the first three refreshed versions of games about Commander Shepard, featured improve mechanics and graphics of individual titles. That, however, was not enough for the fans and - as in the case of the originals - they created the a ALOT (A Lot of Textures) and ISL (Improved Static Lighting) mods, which introduce improved textures to the game. The reason? In many cases they are simply of higher quality than what BioWare prepared, treating fan work as a kind of reference.

What's more, te ALOT mod creators have also updated its version dedicated to orignal versions of the games, thanks to which old ugly textures have been replaced with those from the Legendary Edition. As we read in the description of the mod, it was to enable the owners of both versions of the game - remastered and regular - to enjoy the best of BioWare's refreshed edition and ALOT.

What has changed? In Legendary Edition the mod replaced dozens of textures that gave the worst impression - including on text holograms or the sky in the Citadel in Mass Effect 3. In addition, thanks to ISL the creators removed artifacts, striping, and aliasing visible in static lights and shadows in 40,000 textures. On the other hand, in ALOT's version for the original trilogy the creators made changes only where the textures offered by the mod were worse than those used in Legendary Edition. The changes included elements of the environment, armors, weapons and some companions. More details can be found here.

Modifications mentioned in this news can be downloaded from this page. You will also find instructions on how to install them. Mods are of course only available on PC, although Mass Effect: Legendary Edition was released on May 14 also on PS4, PS5, XONE and XSX|S.
