Minecraft 1.17.1 Snapshot Saves Axolotls

Mojang AB released the third snapshot of the 1.17.1 update for Minecraft Java Edition. It enables us to test a few more patches that will be included in the official release of the patch.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. Minecraft: Java Edition has received its third snapshot from update 1.17.1;
  2. It enables us to test a number of further improvements, such as the behavior of some creatures;
  3. The official version of the patch should be available soon.

In early June, Minecraft received the first part of the next major update, called Caves & Cliffs. It introduced a whole host of new features, including 91 new block types and a number of creatures. Unfortunately, it did not eliminate many bugs present in the title, while adding several new ones. The situation will be slightly improved by the next, smaller patch, marked 1.17.1. Since the middle of last month it was possible to test the first pre-release version. The second was released last Monday, and the third yesterday.

In the latest snapshot from update 1.17.1 the developers have provided a number of further improvements for testing. We are talking about the elimination of errors related to the behavior of captured axolotls (they should not now try to leave the water after capture) and piglins and logging on the server. All additional details can be found here.

However, if you are expecting some noveties from the new patch for Minecraft, we have some bad news for you. You will not see any. All you can do is wait for the second part of the Caves & Cliffs update. According to current plans, it will be released at the end of this year.

Mojang invites you to test the next portion of fixes.

1.17.1 Pre-release 3 is available for Minecraft: Java Edition. To check it out, you need to enable snapshots in the Installations section in the game client. However, remember that this is still a pre-release version of the update and it may cause you to lose your game world. Therefore, it is advisable to make a backup copy of your work before downloading it, or run sessions with the update from a separate folder.
