Minecraft Gets a DLC to Celebrate 30th Anniversary of Sonic

The Sonic series turns 30 years old this year. On this occasion, a special DLC for Minecraft was prepared, which enables us to play as the super-fast hedgehog and test our skills on several special, randomly generated maps.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • Minecraft receives a DLC to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Sonic series;
  • We can play as the iconic character on randomly generated maps which resemble cult locations known from the Japanese series;
  • DLC also enables us to play as other characters such as Knuckles, Amy Rose and Shadow.

Sonic is about to turn 30 years old. The release of Sonic the Hedgehog took place in June 1991. An anniversary of this caliber is the perfect opportunity to celebrate big time. Players who want to celebrate the birthday of the supersonic hedgehog can do it in another game, namely Minecraft.

The popular sandbox has just received a DLC, thanks to which we can completely change the game. New content enables us to play as Sonic and face the randomly generated maps inspired by the iconic locations from the Japanese series. On the way we collect rings known to all fans of the series and face dangerous robots.

The DLC also enable us to compete with friends In the game we can also play as Sonic, Knuckles, Amy Rose and Shadow. Each character has different skills that enable us to gain advantage over our rivals.

But that's not the only way to celebrate Sonic's 30th anniversary in Minecraft. A special server will be available soon that will enable players to take part in many mini-games related to Sonic. In addition, the character can be unlocked even without the DLC. It was made available for free.

The add-on can be purchased on the Minecraft Marketplace for the price of 1340 Minecoins. Information about the special server will soon be published on the game's official Twitter page.
