More live-service games. Despite Suicide Squad failure, Warner Bros. continues to push in this direction

It looks like Warner Bros. still believes in live-game services. Although Suicide Squad turned out to be a huge disappointment, the company is planning a new title in the DC universe.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is undoubtedly one of the biggest failures of last year. The game led to layoffs at Rocksteady studio, and its development ended less than a year after its release. However, it seems like Warner Bros. Games is not giving up and plans to release another live-service game set in the DC universe.

At least, that's what it looks like from the job posting on the Warner Bros. Montreal website. A person is being sought for the role of Executive Producer to "lead the development of a high-quality AAA game based on one of the iconic IPs from the vast Warner Bros. and DC Comics catalog."

One of the responsibilities of the hired person will be, among others, to "oversee post-launch content and live service strategy, ensuring ongoing player engagement." This clearly suggests that Warner Bros. is not planning a traditional single-player game, but rather a continuously evolving game-as-a-service.

Reddit users are skeptical about the announcement. Many people can't believe that the company still hasn't learned from its mistakes. Suicide Squad wasn't the only live-service game of Warner Bros. Games, which turned out to be a failure - a similar fate befell MultiVersus. Despite good reviews, the game couldn't keep players engaged and as a result, its servers were shut down.

A month ago, Warner Bros. Games confirmed that they are making big changes to their publishing structure. The company intends to focus on four main franchises. Apart from DC Comics, these are Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, and Mortal Kombat.
