Netflix's The Witcher S2 Will Feature New Character Important for Jaskier

You missed Jaskier in the latest photeos from the set of Netflix's The Witcher? Don't worry, his appearance is not threatened, if we believe the reports about casting for the second season.

We'd have to be very naive if we thought that suspension of shooting on the set of The Witcher S2 would cause a sudden drop in the number of reports about the sewies. Internet users are digging around wherever they can to bring out the hottest rumors and facts. One of them focuses on Jaskier, as we haven't seen him in the shots from the set, which have recently appeared on the Internet. Fans at Redanian Intelligence ensure, however, that the creators do not intend to get rid of the protagonist for some reason, or significantly reduce his screen time. One of the casting offers prepared by the producers proves it.

They are looking for someone who would fit the role of contessa De Stael, i.e. a woman whom Jaskier outright adores and treats as one of his muses. She is also a character that Sapkowski mentioned in his books, but we could only gain some knowledge about her thanks to descriptions, because she did not take part in the action directly (you can find a mention of her in The Tower of the Swallow).

Interestingly, we also heard about her in the show, namely in the memorable episode about the Djinni. It was then that Jaskier confessed to Geralt that the countess dumped him yet again. Moreover, one of the loud wishes of the bard was for De Stael to take him in again - preferably half-naked and with open arms. Who knows if the magical creature, despite its fiendish nature, did not fulfill the character's wish?

Summing up these reports, it turns out that not only will Jaskier appear in the second season, but also his storyline will be expanded with elements that we have not witnessed in Sapkowski's books (although it should be remembered that the mere mention of contessa De Stael is a very nice touch, taken straight from the books). We will have to wait a little bit to see how profound changes the artists will introduce. The next season of Netflix's The Witcher was to debut in 2021, but we don't know if there will be any delays due to the suspension of work.
