New Star Wars Movie From Wonder Woman Director

We know the title and premiere date of another feature film from the universe of Star Wars. It will be Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, directed by Patty Jenkins, who is responsible for the recent Wonder Woman movies.

Disney's last investor call of the year, which took place on Thursday to Friday, was characterized by great scope and abounded in numerous announcements. The event was intended to reassure the shareholders, who have been observing unprecedented financial problems of the giant caused by the global pandemic throughout this year.

Star Wars will remain one of the pillars of Disney's media empire in the coming years. The company not only announced or confirmed premieres of as many as ten (!) series for Disney+ set in the universe of the saga, but also presented another planned feature film. This is Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. The movie will be the first representative of the series to hit the cinema screens after the flop that was Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker.

The premiere of Star Wars: Rogue Squadron is planned for Christmas 2023. The movie will be directed by Patty Jenkins, well known to action film fans thanks to Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984. Star Wars fans will surely notice immediately that the project will be strongly inspired by a series of games, books and comics under the same title, which presented the adventures of a squadron of X-wing pilots fighting in the ranks of the Rebellion.

The movie will therefore most likely be, like Rogue One, an action-packed war movie set in the time of the original trilogy. Interestingly, Jenkins feels personally connected with the subject, because her late father served for years in the American army as a pilot of an F-4 fighter. His character is to be a huge inspiration for her. The director promises her fans that she will do her best to make the best pilot movie ever. She talks about her experiences in a short clip posted on Twitter.

Lucasfilm's boss, Kathleen Kennedy, also confirmed that after the premiere of Star Wars: Rogue Squadron , the time will come for a film from Taika Waititi, which we learned about in May this year. The project is to be "fresh, unexpected and... unique", and its pre-production is now proceeding without major obstacles.
