No more Playerunknown's Battlegrounds weekly updates

Playerunknown's Battlegrounds dev is giving up on weekly and monthly updates. Instead, Bluehole will be releasing patches at its own pace, having first made sure each one is ready to be rolled out.

Since its Early Access release on Steam in March 23, 2017, Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds has received 14 weekly and monthly updates. However, Bluehole informed fans they won’t stick to that rollout schedule anymore. That’s how the studio explained the decision in an official note to players:

We’ve found internally that being rushed to finish certain features, and having shorter QA test time between pushing updates caused more issues than it solved in regards to maintaining a high standard of quality. We want to put our best content out, and ensure that everything we do is making the game more enjoyable with every update.

Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds updates will now come out less often, but will hopefully have a reduced number of issues.

In other words, Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds will still be getting updates, but not as often as it was till now. The developer simply does not want to rush things before they are actually ready just in order to keep up with a schedule. New patches will remain in test servers for longer periods of time unitl they are tested thoroughly enough before they get into the live build. Bluehole also promises that all the planned content will make it into the game, regardless of the changes in the update schedule. They still intend to release Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds this year and show it off next week at gamescom 2017.
