NVIDIA presents Vault 1080, a Fallout 4 mod releasing tomorrow

Fallout 4 fans - especially the ones with GeForce graphics cards on board - may want to check out Vault 1080, a dark-themed mod from NVIDIA. The project is going to launch on September 2.

Fallout 4 is one of these games that get tones of fan-made modifications. This time, however, we’d like to draw your attention to a project created by NVIDIA, or to be more specific NVIDIA LightSpeed Studio. The team is about to release Vault 1080, a mod offering an extra hour of gameplay as well as an opportunity to enjoy graphical fireworks from “the green camp”. Vault 1080 will be available on PC tomorrow, i.e. on September 2 (you’ll be able to download it from here). Here’s the reveal trailer:

Vault 1080 will invite you to a dark, mysterious vault, whose tunnels lie under an old, ruined church, somewhere on a foggy marshland. The society dwelling there are far from friendly – they embraced darkness and sickness in order to survive.

The overall darkness, disturbing atmosphere, and prevailing fog make for great circumstances for showing off volumetric lighting, dynamic shadows, and all sorts of particular effects. The mod has been specifically designed to feature NVIDIA’s visual technologies, such as HBAO+, FleX, and godrays – but if it’s fun, then why not? Check out a couple of Vault 1080 screenshots:

Old churches in video games are rarely good news.

The inhabitants of the Vault 1080 may be high-res, but they’re far from friendly.
