Electronic Arts has removed the first installment of the Crysis series from Steam. No reasons were given for the decision, but players are guessing what is behind it.
Crysis, the first installment of the FPS series from Crytek studio, has been removed from distribution on Steam, and it is not exactly known why.
For several months, players on Steam have been reporting problems with launching Crysis. The database of the platform shows that some work was done on this title this year, so fans were hoping for a patch, but it seems that Electronic Arts decided it's not worth it and it's easier to just remove the game from sale.
It's possible that the publisher couldn't count on help from Crytek because the team is distributing Crysis Remastered under their own label. So they may want this version to be the only one available in Valve's store.
The weirdest thing about all of this is that it only applies to the Steam version. Crysis is still available for purchase on GOG.com and in the EA digital store (also as part of EA Play).
By the way, there are currently discounts on Steam and GOG.com where you can get selected games from the series at a lower price.
The offer will remain valid until July 10th.
