Draw Distance and Paradox Interactive Cooperate on a New RPG

Draw Distance will develop another game in cooperation with Paradox Interactive. It's codename is Project Cardinal and it's said to be bigger than the previous two games by the team, namely Coteries of New York and Shadows of New York.

IN A NUTSHELL
  1. Draw Distance and Paradox Interactive are preparing another game;
  2. It is codenamed Project Cardinal and so far we do not know too many details about it;
  3. According to promises, it will be an RPG using one of Paradox Interactive's franchises, much more expansive than previous Draw Distance games, namely visual novels Coteries of New York and Shadows of New York.

In 2019, the news broke that the Polish studio Draw Distance (formerly known as iFun4all), known, among others, for Serial Cleaner, established a partnership with Paradox Interactive. As a result, two games set in the universe of the iconic pen&paper RPG from the so-called World of Darkness from White Wolf were developed. We're talking about visual novels called Vampire: The Masquerade - Coteries of New York and Vampire: The Masquerade - Shadows of New York. Although both games were not exceptionally well received by the industry media and the players, both Draw Distance and Paradox Interactive are satisfied with the cooperation so far. At least, this is what Michal Mielcarek, the president of the Krakow-based team, says. Therefore, another game will be developed as part of the cooperation between the two teams. It is codenamed Project Cardinal.

As we read on StockWatch.pl [in polish], Project Cardinal will be an RPG based on the license of one of the franchises owned by Paradox Interactive. The IP was not specified, but it's possible that it will be Vampire: The Masquerade again. It was emphasized, however, that the upcoming title will be much larger and more expansive than Vampire: The Masquerade - Coteries of New York and Vampire: The Masquerade - Shadows of New York, which were focused primarily on storytelling, with gameplay in the background.

Project Cardinal, which is currently in the very early stages of development, is to be created parallel with Serial Cleaners, a sequel of Serial Cleaner, announced in June 2020. However, it will not be Draw Distance's priority this year. Therefore, we will probably have to wait a bit longer for more details about it.

Paradox Interactive believes in the abilities of the Draw Distance team.

According to Mielcarek, continuing to work with Paradox is a chance for Draw Distance to spread its wings. To quote his words:

"By developing and releasing games from the Vampire: The Masquerade series, we have won Paradox's truist and today we're enjoying the fruits. We're working more closely together, and we've been given green light to continue growth in self-publishing. All this is proof of our partner's great trust and satisfaction with our work so far."

In the end, we can ask ourselves whether Draw Distance will take advantage of its opportunity, and whether Project Cardinal will enable the team to set sail for good?
