Patch 5 for Baldur's Gate 3 Goes Live; It's So Big Larian Advises Redownloading Entire Game

Patch 5 for Baldur's Gate 3 is now available. It is so large that Larian Studios advises that if you run out of disk space, it would be better to download the entire game from scratch.

As announced, Larian Studios has released Patch 5 for Baldur's Gate III. The update "weighs" as much as 30 GB. However, in order to be able to download and install it, you must have 130 GB of free space on your disk - in addition to Baldur's Gate 3 itself, of course, which without the patch takes up an whopping 124 GB (on Steam).

What if we don't have that much? The developer suggests that in such a case it is better to delete the game and download it whole from scratch.

You can check the full list of changes and fixes here. Of the more significant ones, we can mention the ability to manage the inventory of all companions in one window and improved performance in the third act (especially on PS5, where users experienced considerable problems). In addition, Patch 5 introduces two interesting new features:

  1. an additional playable epilogue - after the events of the third act, and before the end credits, the game's action will move half a year forward; the player will go to the camp to say goodbye to their companions and many other characters (the developers boasted that they wrote 3589 new dialogue lines just for this sequence);
  2. two new gameplay modes: Honour Mode and Custom Mode - the former will make the game (combat and exploration) more difficult by, among other things, expanding the repertoire of bosses with surprising "legendary actions" and preventing so-called "save scumming" (there is a special reward for completing the game), while the latter will enable you to disable many interface elements to make the experience more like a tabletop RPG session.

As a reminder, let me add that in December Baldur's Gate III is scheduled to hit Xbox Series X and S. The exact release date of this RPG on Microsoft's consoles will be known during The Game Awards 2023 gala, which will take place on the night of December 7.
