We lived to see the release of Path of Exile: Scourge, the latest DLC for the hit action RPG by Grinding Gear Games. Traditionally, it was released for free in the form of an update.
The expansion launched last night and for now, is only available on PC and Mac, but console owners will not have to wait long to join the fun. The expansion will be coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on October 27, while Xbox X/Series and PlayStation 5 owners will also be able to play it thanks to backward compatibility.
First impressions from PoE: Scourge are very good. This is best shown by user ratings on Steam. Yesterday, on the day of the DLC's release, Path of Exile received 195 positive reviews from players and only 15 negatives. Today promises to be a repeat of that situation. At the time of writing this post, the status as of October 23 is: 14 positive reviews and 3 negatives.
With the release of the expansion, the game is also achieving impressive activity scores. Yesterday, at the hottest time of the day Path of Exile was played on Steam by 150,485 people. This is only 7 thousand less than the game's record, so it is quite possible that it will be beaten this weekend.
The DLC enables you to move to an alternative version of the demon-infested world of Wraeclast. Players were given the option to defile their own items, which at the same time provides them with powerful positive modifiers and results in negative effects from curses. The devs haven't forgotten about the improvements to the game's balance, which included changes to the passive skill tree.
You are overwhelmed by the vastness of progression options in Path of Exile? Take advantage of the Path of Building project.
Currently Path of Exile is an extremely complex game and even veterans have big problems with planning optimal "character builds. Therefore, a group of fans has developed an open-source tool called Path of Building. Thanks to it we can simulate different paths of progression, helping ourselves make the right choices on the skill screen. It also facilitates the discovery of the most beneficial gems and ideal equipment for our character.
