Phoenix Point Launches on Steam With Big Discount

A year after its debut in Epic Games Store, the turn-based strategy game Phoenix Point finally hit Steam. On this occasion, a special 50% discount is offered.

Phoenix Point, a turn-based strategy game designed by Julian Gollop, the father of UFO: Enemy Unknown, launched on Steam and GOG.com. The project was originally released on December 3, 2019, but so far the PC edition has only been available on Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store. Next year the title is also to be released on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

The release available on Steam/GOG.com takes the form of the so-called Phoenix Point: Year One Edition. It includes the base with three DLCs (Blood and Titanium, Ancient Legacy and Live Arms).

On the occasion of the game's expanded launch, a special offer was organized which enables to buy Phoenix Point: Year One Edition for half the price. The sale will last until December 22. It is worth adding that the game is also available in the Xbox Game Pass subscription on PC.

Phoenix Point met with a warm reception on Steam. 81% of user ratings are positive. This is noteworthy because the exclusivity deal signed with Epic Games Store met with a very negative response from the players. This was due, among other things, to the fact that the project was created thanks to a fundraiser on Fig, where the pledgers were promised Steam and GOG.com keys. When the game became an EGS exclusive, however, it turned out that fans will have to wait a year for the game on their preferred platform.

As you can see, during the twelve months that have passed since its release on Epic Games Store, the excitement of the community has greatly diminished. However, the question arises whether the whole situation will not affect the sales of the game on the new websites. According to SteamDB's estimates, yesterday, at the hottest moment of the day, only 1415 people were playing Phoenix Point on Steam. Even taking into account the overall rather niche character of the game, it is not an impressive result.
