Grinding Gear Games released a huge list of changes that the 0.2.0 update will bring to Path of Exile 2. The large scale of „nerfs” has strongly surprised players.
One day before the Dawn of the Hunt update for Path of Exile 2 was released, the developers shared a full list of changes and new features. If you're planning to get ready for the game by going through everything, I suggest making some tea and having a snack in advance. The list posted on the game's website is very long and contains about 700 items.
All the most important updates, such as new characters, skills, Ascendancy classes, items, or an expanded endgame, were discussed in one of the previous messages, so there is no point in repeating them. If you haven't checked them out yet, I recommend getting familiar with them.
The most interesting part of the change list are the huge balance improvements. Grinding Gear Games introduced a lot of them in every aspect of the game - both in the skill tree, abilities, items, and monsters.
However, in most cases these are nerfs, especially of the most powerful elements. So don't be surprised if, after returning to the game, your characters perform much worse than you remember. For instance:
You will find a whole bunch of these types of nerfs on the list, so it's worth getting familiar with them before playing PoE 2 tomorrow. Furthermore, the extent of the changes is so large that it surprised the gaming community.
I really thought I was prepared for the scale of nerfs. I was totally wrong.
Consider changing the name of the 0.2.0 update to Dawn of the Nerfs.
I'm a bit disappointed that they nerfed most of the builds, while doing so little to buff the weak skills.
Taking this into account, it's no wonder that the developers recommend starting the game in Dawn of the Hunt with new characters. In this way, we will be able to test new skills (there are over 100 of them), and perhaps we will discover more powerful combinations.
The 0.2.0 update for Path of Exile 2 will be released tomorrow on all platforms.
