Prison Architect dev's new game Scanner Sombre out this week

Prison Architect dev gives you Scanner Sombre, a game in which you get to cover everything around you with thousands of colorful dots and thus reveal an otherwise invisible world.

Introversion Software’s Prison Architect had gained much acclaim and popularity even before its full release on Steam, during the Early Access period. Now, the indie studio is returning with another game, entitled Scanner Sombre. The best part is that you won’t have to wait six years for this one – actually, it’s coming out this week, on Wednesday, April 26. You can pre-order it in Humble Store at a 20% discount for $9.59. Here’s a launch trailer:

Scanner Sombre is a small, side project of the studio, a sort of “palate cleanser” after Prison Architect, Introversion Software’s lead designer Chris Delay told PC Gamer. What makes the game stand out from the crowd is its unique artwork and gameplay. In-game world is totally invisible and you only look at it by means of a scanner, which mimics the way the LIDAR scanner works. The point is, you send thousands of points of colorful light dots that cover the environment, gradually revealing the shapes of objects around you. Interestingly, there is no limit of particles you can create and they stay exactly where you put them. If you want to learn more about the game, you can read a lengthy interview with Scanner Sombre’s creators posted by PC Gamer here.
