Sensor Tower analytics group published a list of top earning mobile games in May. The list was headed by PUBG Mobile, which earned $266 million last month. Additionally, Pokemon GO did quite well after a recent weaker period.

IN A NUTSHELL
  1. According to the report of Sense Tower, the best earning mobile game in May was PUBG Mobile.

  3. Honor of Kings was second in the ranking, and Roblox third.
  4. Pokemon Go scored the best month since September 2019, and earned $82.2 million.

In March this year, PUBG Mobile celebrated its second birthday. This special version of the popular online battle royale shooter for iOS and Android mobile devices still enjoys considerable popularity among the players, which is confirmed by the numbers. Just behind PUBG Mobile, Sensor Tower's May ranking features another game published by Tencent - the MOBA game Honor of Kings. Last month, the title earned 204.5 million dollars worldwide, the largest amount of which, as much as 95%, in China. We see how strong that market is when it comes to mobile games.

Other interesting things we can learn from reading Sensor Tower's report, Pokemon GO is beginning to come alive. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, recent weeks have not been very successful for Niantic's high-profile AR games. However, the movement restrictions to prevent the spread of the virus are loosening. In addition, some changes have been made to Pokemon GO to make it easier to play at home. As a result, May was the best month for the popular title since September 2019. The title earned $82.2 million (45.5% more than May 2019).
