Rainbow Six: Siege free weekend announced
Ubisoft has announced a free weekend for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege. Starting February 2, it will last until Sunday, and let players from all platforms try the full game – that means all maps, modes, and operatives.
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege turned out to be an almost surprisingly good online FPS, which, since its release, only gets better thanks to numerous expansions and add-ons. If you haven’t had a chance to give this game a try, you soon will be able to change that. Ubisoft has recently announced a free R6 weekend. From February 2 through 5, the game will be available free-to-play for all platforms (Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC – both via Uplay and Steam).

During the free weekend, players will be able to try out the entire game: all game modes, all maps, and every operative you can find in Rainbow Six: Siege will be there. Simultaneously, a sale will be launched – digital copies of the game will be available for half the regular price.
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege was released on December 1, 2015 on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Originally, the game contained 20 operatives from 5 spec-ops units – French GIGN; German GSG9; British SAS; American FBI SWAT and Russian Spetsnaz. Through free-of-charge expansions, the array of available units has thus far been enhanced with Canadian JTF-2; American Navy SEALS; Brazilian BOPE and Japanese SAT. Those DLCs have also introduced a considerable portion of new arenas.
DLC Velvet Shell – date of release confirmed
Ubisoft has also informed that on February 7, the next big DLC, codenamed Velvet Shell, will be released. It will introduce two new commandos from Spanish Grupo Especial de Operaciones, along with a new map: Coastline, which will take the players to a night club on Ibiza.
Let’s also keep in mind the developers’ recent announcement, stating they will support the game at least until December 2017. The planned expansions include special forces from Hong Kong, Poland, and South Korea (in addition to the upcoming Spanish DLC).
Gotta love Ubisoft’s policy. All the additional levels and characters are available for free, and while you can get a season pass, it only provides some nice bonuses such as early access to new operatives, so it’s not a pay-to-win situation.
