After 6 Days, Redfall Got First Patch - 3 Fixes in Several Gigabytes

Redfall has received its first minor update. Hotfix 1.01 introduces three changes: it fixes two bugs resulting in game crashes and one problem with servers.

Last week's launch of Redfall went in an atmosphere of controversy and disappointment. The latest game from Arkane received exceptionally cold reviews from critics, while players express their big disapproval against the underdeveloped game.

The developers have finally set to work to at least partially fix the troubled title. To Redfall has just received a minor update numbered 1.01, which is intended to fix a couple of bugs.

Hotfix

The first so-called hotfix mainly focuses on bugs resulting in a complete freezing of the game. Also improved are the failing servers:

"Gameplay:

  • Fixed an issue with an endless loading screen that resulted from gameplay freezing and resuming during fast travel.
  • Fixed a save system bug that resulted from gameplay freezing and resuming during fast travel on the map.

Servers:

  • Updated the game server pulse logic to improve backend communication with live servers."

What may be surprising about today's patch is that the gaming community can't agree on the size of the package with the latest changes. In the comments under the developer's post on Steam players report the update weighing 1.8 GB, 3 GB or even 4.62 GB.

The beginning of a long road

Redfall proved to be a disappointment for a large part of players. It remains to be hoped that hotfix 1.01 represents only the beginning of work on the game, which will ultimately result in a far more enjoyable play experience than at launch.
