Resident Evil Village Launches, Visual Comparisons Available

Resident Evil Village debuted on the market. On this occasion, a new trailer was released and some interesting visual comparisons appeared online.

We finally lived to see the release of Resident Evil Village, the latest installment of the survival horror game series by Capcom. The game is now available on all hardware platforms, i.e. PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S and Stadia.

The standard PC edition of the game can be purchased on Steam, PS Store and Microsoft Store for $59.99.

On the occasion of the game's launch, Capcom released a new trailer, available above. It's worth mentioning that the game comes with a network module titled Resident Evil Re:Verse, enabling us to play six-person deathmatch skirmishes, where we can control the most famous characters from the franchise.

Those considering the purchase of the game should be interested in a video published by Digital Foundry, which thoroughly analyzes the graphics of Resident Evil Village on next-gen consoles. The PS5 and Xbox X Series offer very similar quality. On the Xbox S Series we get a slightly less sharp image, but on all three paltforms we can enjoy 60 fps and only the XSS sees occasional fps drops.

Interestingly, the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 hold steady 60 fps most of the time even with ray-tracing enabled. There are only a few locations in the campaign where drops are noticeable. The Xbox S Series fares much worse, displaying 30 fps as standard with this option and often dropping below this value.

It is also worth watching a video prepared by the Resero channel on YouTube, which offers a visual comparison between the game's editions for Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, PS4, PS4 Pro and PlayStation 5. Next-gen versions look better, of course, but the game looks impressive even on old consoles.

Resident Evil: Village receives excellent reviews. Reviews show that Capcom mostly met the expectations of players. The game was also appreciated by our editor, who gave it a score of 9.0/10.
