Return to Monkey Island Gets First Gameplay Trailer

Terrible Toybox has released the first gameplay trailer from the upcoming Return to Monkey Island.

In April we saw the announcement of Return to Monkey Island, a new installment of one of the most important adventure game series of all time. Until now, the creators only showed us teasers, which made it difficult to deduce how the game will look like in action. Now, finally, the first gameplay trailer has dropped.

The video is all the more important, because the visual style presented by Return to Monkey Island turned out to be quite controversial. Many fans were hoping for pixel-art graphics, but the father of the series, Ron Gilbert, decided that he had no desire to create a retro game. The creator wants to look to the future, and not rely on nostalgia.

The trailer looks promising and, most importantly, funny. In addition, it suggests that this time there will be sections in which we will control Elaine, the beloved of protagonist Guybrush Threepwood.

Let's recall that Return to Monkey Island is coming to PC and Nintendo Switch. The premiere is to take place later this year. The PC edition will be sold on Steam.

Apart from Ron Gilbert, other veterans of Monkey Island, including writer Dave Grossman and composers Peter McConnell, Michael Land and Clint Bajakian, are involved in the works. Rex Crowle, who had the same role in Knights & Bikes and Tearaway, created the unique visual style.
