Samsung's Deputy CEO Embarrassed by the Problems with Galaxy Fold

The first folding phone call from Samsung - Galaxy Fold - has been announced many months ago. However, the premiere has been postponed for a long time, and DJ Koh, the company's deputy CEO admitted that he was embarrassed by the situation and partly to blame.

The story un-folds...

Samsung Galaxy Fold has been announced for a long time and its premiere has been postponed several times. Meanwhile, the Korean manufacturer's representatives and press office report every few weeks, and in an offhand way, that the folding phone is still there and will appear sooner rather than later. But time passes, and in fact, nothing changes.

Something doesn't fit in this story.

Recently, however, the deputy CEO of Samsung, DJ Koh, spoke on the issue and admitted in a conversation for The Independent that he had 'overlooked something about a folding phone' and pointed out that his company was in the process of correcting errors. Currently, more than 2000 prototypes are being tested to ensure that the existing problems do not recur.

Koh admits openly: "it was embarrassing. I was pushing the case forward before [the phone] was ready. Samsung's deputy CEO did not want to engage in further discussion and answer the question whether the fact that Huawei announced the Mate X model had an impact on the rush to design Fold. However, this is highly probable. On the other hand, looking at the commotion surrounding Fold, Huawei also decided to postpone the launch of the Mate X model by about three months - it is expected to appear on the shelves in September.

According to Koh, Galaxy Fold has not been cancelled and will eventually be available on the market. However, he did not give an exact date and stated enigmatically that this would happen "at the right time". In summary, he added that in the last few weeks the biggest problems that could not be detected before being sent to reviewers were identified and the company only needs a little more time to eliminate them.
