Scorn Launches to Conflicting Reviews and Extreme Opinions

We have finally lived to see the release of Scorn. The first reviews are polarized - many reviewers are delighted with the game, while others gave it low scores.

Finally, after many years of waiting, we have seen the release of Scorn, a horror-themed FPP game developed by the Serbian studio Ebb Software and inspired by the works of H.R. Giger and Zdzislaw Beksinski.

  1. The game debuted on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
  2. The PC release is sold on Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG.com and Microsoft Store.
  3. The game is also available as part of a Game Pass subscription, both on PC and XSX/S.

On the occasion of the release, a discount on the PC version has been organized, which enables you to buy the game on Steam, GOG.com and the Epic Games Store 10% cheaper than the standard price. The offer will remain valid until October 21.

First reviews

Scorn kept us waiting for a long time. Work on the game began in 2014, and initially it was to be released at the end of 2017. Expectations were high, so we are curious to see if the game lives up to them. The first reviews are good, but it's hard to talk about universal admiration. On OpenCritic, the game has an average rating of 71% combined for both hardware platforms. In turn, on Metacritic, the average score for the PC release is 72%. Below we cite selected review scores:

  1. Attack of the Fanboy - 5/5
  2. Gaming Nexus - 9/10
  3. Spector.sk - 9/10
  4. CD-Action - 8
  5. Guardian - 4/5
  6. Gameshub - 4/5
  7. PCGamer - 80/100
  8. VG247 - 4/5
  9. Twinfinite - 4/5
  10. But Who Though? - 8/10
  11. Gamepressure - 7.0/10
  12. Gamepur - 6/10
  13. EGM - 4/5
  14. TechRaptor - 4.5/10
  15. GameStop 4.0/10
  16. Xbox Era - 4/10
  17. VGC - 2/5
  18. Game Rant - 1/5

As you can see, the gap in reviews is significant - the game receives both very high and very low ratings. Everybody seems to like the atmosphere and visuals. Differences of opinion appear on the issue of gameplay. Some say the combat and puzzles are decently implemented, while others think the game is poor in these aspects, and there is too much aimless loitering in the campaign.
