Sony Will Expand Its PC Game Catalog and Invest in New Brands

Half of Sony's games will soon be PC and mobile productions. The company also wants to invest more heavily in new brands.

Sony has released a new financial report. We have already written about the sales results of PC ports of PlayStation games revealed in the report. However, the document also contains other interesting information.

Sony will release more PC and mobile games

The most interesting are the development plans for the coming years.

  1. The corporation will increase investment in PC and mobile games.
  2. Roughly half of the games the company will release in 2025 will be PC and mobile titles.
  3. In the coming years, Sony intends to release at least 12 live-service games.

The increased interest of the company in the PC and mobile markets is no surprise. The only surprise may be the scale of the planned support. Investments in PC games turned out to be quite successful for Sony. Ports of Horizon: Zero Dawn, Days Gone and God of War have sold very well. We expect the same to be true of the upcoming Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection.

In addition, Sony some time ago acquire Nixxes, a team specializing in porting console games to PC. This purchase is a good sign in terms of the company's plans for the PC. It should also be mentioned that the company has recently been looking for a person for the position of development leader for the PC division and according to credible rumors a launcher PlayStation Network on PC may be planned.

Sony will increase investment in new brands

Sony's presentation there was also other interesting information about the company's strategy. The plans include a significant increase in investment in new brands. They are to account for half of all games that the company will release in 2025.
