For Phil Spencer, owners of Sony and Nintendo consoles have become members of the Xbox community. This follows the approval of Microsoft's nearly $69 billion deal to buy Activision Blizzard.
The head of the Xbox division, Phil Spencer, feels very confident after the finalization of Activision Blizzard deal last month. This is evidenced by his words in an interview for Famitsu, in which he explicitly said that he treats users of PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch consoles as members of the ecosystem created by Microsoft, as the company will be releasing games for these platforms.
There's no denying that the company has reasons to be happy. The merger with Activision Blizzard, which has dragged out for months, has finally been completed, and this means an influx of quite a few new (and big!) brands into the Xbox family - among them are the Call of Duty series, Overwatch, Diablo or World of Warcraft.
For a long time now, the head of Xbox has been saying that the goal of the company is to bring games to more gamers. His interview with Famitsu may be, as it were, further confirmation of these assertions.
Let's point out that Microsoft's strategy relies primarily on its Game Pass service, which can be purchased by owners of PCs, Xbox consoles or even Samsung TVs (newer models include a corresponding application).
