Steam in the Shadow of Roblox as User Numbers Soar

The developers of Roblox boasted that the number of monthly users exceeded 150 million. Record-high increases also occur in the case of money paid to players for creating new content.

The pace of Roblox's development continues to amaze.

It seems that most people know how extremely popular Roblox is, but still, subsequent data about the game's results often comes as a surprise. Its creators have just boasted that currently over 150 million people play the game every month.

How impressive this number is, is best illustrated by the fact that entire Steam at the end of last year had 95 million active users per month. It should be noted that the current performance of the website is probably higher, although it is unlikely to outdo that of Roblox. Valve's platform is growing all the time and this year may turn out to be a record-breaking year for it, as the gaming industry has benefited greatly from the fact that people are now spending more time at home due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Roblox itself has also recorded a big increase in interest this year. In February the creators boasted 115 million active users per month.

One of the most interesting elements of Roblox is that users can create their own content and then make money from it. This aspect of the game is also developing very dynamically. Developers predict that this year they will pay the players more than $250 million. By comparison, last year it was 110 million, so the scale of growth is impressive.

Regular expansion of options to help players create new content helps in this development. Last year, tools were introduced to facilitate communication between users in their work. A virtual talent market is also expected to appear soon, allowing teams to quickly find people with the necessary skills.

Roblox debuted on PC in 2006. With time, the game was also released on Xbox One and mobile devices with iOS and Android systems. The game uses the freemium model.
