Suicide Squad Launches in 6 Months and Devs are Looking for Narrative Director

Rocksteady Studios, currently developing Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, is looking for a narrative director. This probably bodes poorly for this DC universe game.

Delayed release of Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League - in addition, by almost a year - may have suggested that the upcoming game by Rocksteady Studios was in a very poor condition. Subsequent information coming from the camp of the British developer is also not optimistic. The team is looking for a .. narrative director.

Given that the new release date for the game has been set for February 2, 2024. - first it was expected to be released in 2022, and later May 26, 2023 - this job announcement seems to be a bad sign. Nevertheless, one can't help but consider a few (slightly) less ominous scenarios, such as:

  1. That the narrative has already been pretty much buttoned up, and someone is being sought to replace Sefton Hill - the game's original director and co-founder of Rocksteady Studios - who at the end of 2022 left the company (along with Jamie Walker, the other co-founder);
  2. That the team needs someone to finish Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League - the web reports that its co-director (alongside Hill) is Axel Rydby or Rasmus Hojengaard, but it's hard to tell if and how recent this news is;
  3. That the Twitter post quoted above had an unfortunate choice of words and is not really about the director of the narrative for Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, but of the next Rocksteady game - a bit of which is suggested by the full content of the announcement, published on Warner Bros.' website.

Either way, fans of the DC universe may have concerns. Although... since the recent delay has allegedly opened a gateway for developers to remove the requirement for a permanent Internet connection, perhaps a possible further delay - which may be hinted at by the job announcement in question - will help spice up the stiff gameplay that the players complained about after the poor reception of the presented gameplay.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is heading to PC, PS5 and XSX/S.
