A new underwater strategy game to be released by Paradox Interactive - Surviving the Abyss - has just been announced. The successor to Surviving Mars and Surviving the Aftermath will debut early next year in early access.
Today a rather dark game called Surviving the Abyss was announced. This is the third economic strategy in the Surviving series, developed by Paradox Interactive, or specifically Rocket Flair Studios as part of Paradox Arc. We will be able to manage scientists in the depths of the sea beginning with January 17, 2023. This is when the early access period of Surviving the Abyss will begin on Steam.
A short trailer showcasing the game has been released. You can watch it below.
A little more about what Surviving the Abyss will be is revealed by the game's card on Steam:
"Earth, 1976, the Cold War is in full swing, and you're tasked with building and supervising a research facility in the depths of the sea aimed at perfecting the human cloning process. Survive against the odds in the unforgiving abyss, taking care of oxygen, energy, food and many other things that keep your team alive."
So again, like in the case of Surviving Mars and Surviving the Aftermath, the player's main goal will be to develop a colony and take care of it. It will be possible to expand it by building more pylons to light up the dark depths of the sea. However, exploration to acquire new materials can take place far beyond the base, and such experiences can already be compared to those of horror games.
However, the sense of unease will not be your only companion - something will indeed lurk in the darkness, which is not safe without light.
Surviving the Abyss can be added to your wish lists on Steam.
