The Past Within - Is there a single-player mode?

The Past Within is a new adventure game where you can experience an interesting story together with a friend. However, you may wonder if it is possible to play this game in single-player mode. In this article we will answer this question.

The Past Within is a co-op experience from Rusty Lake studio. The developer invites players on an unusual adventure. Together with a friend you have to solve various puzzles in order to discover Albert Vanderboom's plan. Only cooperation will allow you to complete this game. However, what happens if you want to play alone? We will answer this question in this article.

The Past Within doesn't have any protection against being turned on by a single player. What is more - you can play the game alone and even in offline mode. Unfortunately, due to its structure, you will not be able to solve the puzzles - the very first one will be an impassable barrier for you. To complete this production you need a different perspective on the game. However, it does not necessarily have to be a second player.

In theory, you can simply purchase the game on 2 different platforms and solve puzzles simultaneously using 2 devices (the game supports cross-play). However, the developers strongly advise against this form of experiencing their game. They claim that it will greatly diminish the enjoyment. I leave the choice to you.

But remember, if you don't have a gaming partner, the developers from Rusty Lake studio offer a solution - they invite you to the Discord channel dedicated to The Past Within. You can easily get there thanks to the in-game link (screen above). On the channel, you will be able to find people willing to go on an adventure with you. You will also be able to communicate with them in numerous voice chats. So far there is no shortage of people willing to play, so there is a good chance that you will find someone.
