Are you waiting for SWAT Commander to be released on Xbox or PS5? Here you will find the developers' take on this matter.
We love videogames because they allow us to be active participants of the story, as opposed to movies, where we can only watch what’s going on without any real involvement. While this interactive medium often shows us fantastic worlds, sci-fi space colonies, or postapocalyptic wastelands, we cannot forget that sometimes what’s the most interesting can be found in the ordinary. Videogames enable us to take a sneak peek into professions that are often beyond our reach. Have you ever wanted to give order to Special Weapons and Tactics squad? Soon, you will be able to, as SWAT Commander is just around the corner… if you have a PC, that is. What about players who use consoles like Xbox or PS5? Let’s find out.
Clearly inspired by (but not connected with) SWAT series or Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six, SWAT Commander tries to find its place among military shooter titles. Normally, it would be hard to be noticed on this market, though Bodycam lost players’ interest, and Ready or Not is not living through its best days. This might be the reason why people are turning their heads towards this new production. What about its availability, though? Are there any plans for it being released on Xbox or PS5?
As of now, the only platform that will make it possible to enjoy SWAT Commander is PC. Currently, there are no Xbox or PS5 versions available or any concrete plans to have it done. As the developers indicate in their FAQ thread on Steam Community Hub, it all depends on the game’s reception. This is, of course, a very reasonable approach, as for a small, independent team, investing in costly ports can undermine the whole development process and chew through the budget.
Considering these factors, the best way to expedite the release of SWAT Commander on consoles, or making it happen in the first place, is by supporting the title. Also, putting this matter to the developers’ attention is a great idea. You can do so by sending a message in the game’s Steam’s Discussions section or via its official Discord server. Good luck!
