The Witcher 4 is being developed with the same „scrappy energy” as The Witcher 3. CD Projekt Red devs hear the words: „Get it done. Do it dirty”

The spirit of work on the previous installment can be felt during the development of The Witcher 4. According to the narrative director, CD Projekt Red studio members are involved in the most important tasks, regardless of their role.

Working on The Witcher 4 is a return to familiar ground for CD Projekt Red studio. According to Philipp Weber, the director of the fourth installment of the series, the team has the same "scrappy energy" that was essential for creating The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The dev revealed that there is a "creative chaos" in the company, and the creative process often relies on an intuitive approach.

Sometimes I just like to say, "Get it done. Do it dirty. Do it the way we used to do it!" - revealed Philipp Weber in an interview with GamesRadar+.

According to the developer, this resembles the work model that he encountered at CD Projekt Red when he joined the studio in 2013 as a quest designer for The Witcher 3. As he emphasized, it was a time when employees took care of everything that was necessary, regardless of their position. Weber's words show that the developers are really involved and have a lot of freedom to create, at least at this stage of the project. It's possible that the former studio employees, who recently rejoined CD Projekt Red, have an influence on maintaining a similar atmosphere.

The way we want to do justice to [The Witcher 3's] legacy is to take the philosophy we had during The Witcher 3 – how to make a game, how to really care about these things, how to tell stories – and keep that.

Weber also emphasized that the studio is doing everything to make the fourth installment a true continuation. That's why Ciri's adventures are supposed to refer to the best elements of the previous games, but at the same time bring something new. We won't know the result until 2027, when the release of The Witcher 4 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X is tentatively planned.
