Life of Cyberpunk 2077 fan is definitely not one of the easiest. Since the game's fateful release in late 2020, the gaming community has been experiencing a real rollercoaster of emotion. They've been given this thrill ride by CD Projekt RED, which has been systematically - albeit with varying success - trying to improve the initially abysmal quality of its flagship work.

As a result, after nearly 3 years since the debut of Cyberpunk 2077, we lived to see the release of the groundbreaking update 2.0, which essentially rebuilds every aspect of the game. To what effect? The best indicator of the patch's quality is the community's reaction. To that end, we looked at the latest comments and the game's stats on Steam.

Popularity has shot up (maybe not into space, but at least close to the ceiling)

Starting with the latter - according to the charts from SteamDB after the release of the update, at its peak, the game was played by 90,241 people. Considering that in earlier weeks the value reached up to 25,000, the increase is impressive.

Praises for update 2.0

Such popularity sooner or later had to result in new comments on Valve's platform. And indeed, a lot of new reviews popped up under Cyberpunk 2077's card, the vast majority of which are positive. This is brilliantly reflected in the chart presented below:

And here are some sample comments:

"Version 2.0 is very good, and the game is great," writes Tez.

"Update 2.0 has made the game better than ever!," declares F4RD1N.

"Update 2.0 makes the game even more amazing in every way, which I didn't think possible, I definitely recommend it, especially after the new improvements," praises nukeum.

"Version 2.0 is a much-needed improvement. It shows what can be done by giving the game much more time and attention," concludes JayD.

There is also criticism

Not to get too sweet, it should be noted that there are also negative comments. However, they are mainly related to the personal preferences of players. Users complain, among other things, about too weakened weapon stats, the scaling of enemy levels or character progression. Anyway, read for yourself:

"Update 2.0 is terrible. All firearms have been nerfed too much. So much of the fun of playing has been lost. I just returned the money for the DLC pre-order after this. I don't want to play the DLC in this state," declares Icey.

"The combat was intense and difficult depending on the factions you were fighting. It was nice to go back to the starting area to hit the lower levels after getting my ass kicked by a stronger gang... Now they've "balanced" the game so that each gang scales to your level, so you get your ass kicked wherever you go," complains Avatar.

"Patch 2.0 has essentially ruined the variety of compilation present in earlier versions. You are now, more or less, forced to build according to fixed archetypes, as the trees force you to assign points to skills you may not want if you want to fully unlock certain paths," points out Toast.

A broader look at player sentiment

It should be stressed once again that all of the above comments come exclusively from Steam. We can read the opinions of owners of other platforms under a post by Marcin Momot, CD Projekt RED's community director, who, via X/Twitter, asked the gamers about their impressions after switching to Cyberpunk 2077 2.0, and more posts are likely to appear there throughout the day.
