Valheim's Popularity Soars; New Daily Activity Record

The latest work of a small team at Iron Gate Studio - Valheim - enjoys great popularity. Recently, the title broke another activity record - as many as 367 thousand users played the game at the same moment. The sales figures also look great.

IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. Number of Steam users playing Valheim simultaneously has reached a record 367,000;
  2. This makes Iron Gate Studio's title the third most popular game on the platform;
  3. Valheim was also the most purchased product on Steam last week (dominating the top 10 for the second week in a row).

The independent survival game Valheim, which debuted on Steam in early February, is breaking new popularity records. According to SteamDB data, at the best moment of the last 24 hours the title was played simultaneously by as many as 367 thousand users. What's more, its popularity continues to grow, which is perfectly illustrated by the chart below.

Such an impressive number of players makes Valheim the third most popular game on Steam - behind Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. It's possible that the game in question is the biggest viral hit we've ever seen on Valve's platform (we're talking about a work created by a small, little-known studio, which suddenly gains popularity thanks to, among other things, favorable opinions of players on the Internet). Even Among Us, last year's absolute megahit, took much longer to attract a comparable number of players on PC (although it's worth remembering that, unlike Valheim, InnerSloth's work also has a free version for mobile devices).

It's worth noting that the majority of highly anticipated, high-budget AAA productions can't boast similar stats, as they often attract quite a large number of people, but then quickly lose popularity. It seems that players are increasingly likely to find something in indie games that is hard to find in titles from big publishers. What is it? There are as many answers as there are Valheim players.

Steam's Top 10 Best-sellers of Last Week

The immense popularity of Iron Gate Studio's work is also reflected in sales - the title once again opens the listbest selling products on Steam. Truth be told, a large part of the list looks similar to last week's, although some of the games swapped positions. The list also includes several games that were not in the last top 10 - such as PUBG (just behind the top 3), HuniePop 2: Double Date (7th place) or Sea of Thieves (9th place).
